Description

Community Boards provides mediation services for conflicts that arise between family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, employers, business partners, vendors, customers, and others. The mediation could be used in place of a legal process or it could just be to help people have difficult conversations. Community Boards will not mediate disputes where there is violence, threats, or a restraining order involved.

Ways to Contact

Call to leave a message at 415.920.3820, ext. 100 (call back messages are being monitored daily) or email Learn_More@communityboards.org. Please just leave your name and telephone number.

Process

Call to discuss whether mediation is appropriate and available. Mediation is a confidential and voluntary process. The mediators are impartial and do not pass judgments or offer advice. If you go through mediation with Community Boards, your dispute will be mediated by three volunteer mediators at a time convenient for all parties.

There is a $40 case opening fee for most cases, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. Other fees may apply depending on the type and complexity of the case.

Notes

Collect key information in advance if possible: case numbers, names of key people, court dates and deadlines, documents related to the issue, and any questions you have.
