Opening Doors offers pro bono and low-fee immigration legal services. They work with victims of crime including victims of domestic abuse, human trafficking, and other violent crimes. They focus on asylum, deportation defense, SIJS, DACA, and adjustments of status. Prioritization given to residents of Sacramento County.

Pangea offers a wide range of immigration legal services on a sliding scale. Many cases they will do for free (pro bono), but some carry low fees. The focus of Pangea’s work is deportation defense.

The Positive Resource Center primarily provides benefits assistance to people with HIV/AIDS or for those with mental health issues referred by specific San Francisco Department of Public Health sites.

The Private Defender represents clients with active criminal cases or warrants in San Mateo, assuming the client cannot afford to pay for their own attorney. While your client may not know the name of his/her attorney, the private defender office can direct them to that person, who is best suited to assist the client unless the client wants to pay for private counsel.

If the client has questions related to criminal actions, or potential criminal actions, in another County, he/she must contact the public defender in that county.

The Pro Bono Project’s focus is on domestic violence, family, and consumer law. Consults on other issues available through “virtual clinics.”
